Create A Compass Project In Current Directory With...
Here’s another extension for Alfred that creates a Compass project in your currently open Finder directory and optionally have Compass watch it immediately. Once you have installed the extension type “cch” into Alfred and hit Enter to create a new Compass project. To create a project and have Compass watch it in one go use “cch w” (or “cch watch” if...

Fuck your methodology, paradigms, your belief in math, recipes and literature references. Look at what you got and take it from there.  I mean, there must be something inside you qualifying you for the job you’re doing, no?

Chimero: Designers vs Coding
And if you don’t believe me (see my post below, http://lastmodernist.tumblr.com/post/8971322167/editor-on-fire ), you proably believe Mr Chimero.  viafrank: “Do I need to know how to code?” is a question that comes up with sure-fire consistency in design circles. I’ve seen it asked by so many, from uncertain design students in classrooms worried about their chances of landing a job, to...

Editor (on fire)
After lying dormant for a while, the discussion about the ‘perfect’ web design application seems to be alive and running again, surely at least in parts down to Adobe releasing Muse, an AIR-based visual web editor. Quite a few very prolific and very qualified people have elaborated on that topic over the last couple of years, take the in-depth considerations of Jason Santa Maria to...

On a side note…
I am convinced that we designers need to embrace (read: understand and utilize) the technologies we design for. In former times this used to be called craftsmanship. Otherwise we’ll leave designing to the technicians. And you sure wouldn’t want that to happen, would you.

Truth is paradox, pt. 1
This morning someone told me a problem could NEVER be solved on the level where it appeared. After giving it a rushed thought of 1.231 secs I wholeheartedly disagreed: A Problem can ONLY be solved on the level where it appeared. Thinking about it again while having a smoke: Both of these sentences are true, but none of them isolated or without the other. Insight gained: Truth is paradox. Insight...

Too many cooks? →
Smashing Magazine posted up an intriguing article by Mushon Zer-Aviv a few days ago (that probably you and everybody else have read already). I am not sure yet if I agree with everything said, also I am not sure if collaborative Interaction- /UI design and UI design for open source projects can be compared or spoken about at the same time and level, as both surely aren’t the same thing. But...

Prototypical Afternoon
Just back in from the Holy Halls of pidoco, where I spent the afternoon taking part in a user test of a protoype with the new/planned features which were announced a while ago (first time ever for me as a user in such a Test, yikes!). First of all, the stuff the guys have up their sleeves for the next version(s) is amazing and a great leap forward for their product. I’m not going to spill...
